So, Ricky and I were talking last night, and now I'm kinda worried. I've heard Dessy say that she "hates living here" and stuff when she's angry with Ricky, but I figured that was just 'cus she's not used to having to do any chores and thinks if she lives with her mom that she won't have to do anything. Yeah I guess I was wrong. He said that she said it other times too. I finally got it out of him that she doesn't want to live there if we get married. At the same time, however, she wants us to get married because she's afraid if we don't that I'll give her 8th hours and send her to the office all the time.
So apparently despite the fact that she likes me (which Ricky said she told him) I am still going to be the wicked step-mother. I was all happy too b/c when I went over to their house the other day she came out and gave me a big hug and stuff...and she even left me a note in my classroom that said "I love Rhonda".
I'm gonna feel really craptastic if I make Ricky lose his daughter.
happy new year!

I'm sorry. That really sucks! What does Ricky say about it all? I wish I had some good advice but y situation didn't really go any better. We'll have to talk about it!
ReplyDeleteRhonda,
ReplyDeleteI know this might sound silly but try not to worry about it. Most likely she is just worried about losing her dad and she is torn because she really does like you but doesn't want to have to share her father! The best this about this situation is that she has a chance to actually get used to the idea. Maybe this summer you guys can have some major bonding time. I am guessing that eventually she will love the fact that you guys are together... she just needs time. Think about how much of a change it will be for you to move in with them and then think about the same change for an eight year old. She's just thinking like a little girl who loves her daddy! I hope it gets better. Give me a call if you need to talk!
Love ya,
Jamie
