Photography

So...I've booked a photographer now. I'm hoping that she'll be pretty good. She's actually one of my band kids moms, and she's photographed some of Ricky's families weddings. I know that I'm very happy with her price. Some of these people are ridiculous with what they want you to pay for pictures!! $1,000 for DeWeese and $2,000 for Lucas....yeah I don't think so. She's gonna come and shoot the wedding and reception for 1/10th of that. And, she'll retouch anything that needs it and give us a CD so we can make all our own prints. Yay...one less thing I have to worry about now!

Invitations....sort of

So here's what I started with. I LOVE this stamp and thought these turned out really pretty.... but...by the time I put the invitation on top, you lose the whole effect and won't be able to see any of it anyway. So...take 2. I used the Versa Mark to make watermarks on the invivtations....and they turned out like this.

Very nice!! So, I tried printing on top and I think that it'll show up ok.

So here it is with some orange accents. I found a cute little swallow stamp for $6 that I'll use instead of the flower at the bottom. The ribbon isn't going to work though. It'll make too big of a bump to fold everything up.

I think I like it better on the orange paper actually...plus I can make it a little smaller and add some blue so that you see both colors. I definitely like the little swirly stamp there.

Ok, so there's still another side to decorate and I saw this idea in one of the invitation books I had. It uses our thumbprints to make a heart. It's a really cute idea, but it doesn't match the other side and I don't want to have colored thumbs for two weeks afterward!

Veil

Ok, so after talking to my MOH (ok...that's just weird....)...my sister I had to go and try the veil on. I'm weird and do NOT want poufy veil, so I was confused as to which way I should wear it. So I tried it on last night with my tiara and here's how it turned out.

This was how I thought I would wear it...no poufy top, but to do that the short layer was underneath and it would look dumb when I put the veil over my face b/c the long layer would be in front. So...I flipped it over the way it's supposed to be and tried it on again.
And really....I think with the tiara it looks better this way (which is nice b/c that's how it's supposed to be). I'm not really sure how the heck they're gonna get it to stay in my hair...but we'll figure somethin out I'm sure!

Band Contest

So, this has nothing to do with the wedding or anything, but I'm really bummed. I just got our judge sheets from Fayette and we got a IV...a IV!! I mean sure, things didn't go as well as they normally do (they never do at contest), but I didn't think they went that bad! I'm actually quite proud of my kids. I think that most of them have improved a lot since last year. I decided not to tell them what they got yet (and I may lie and tell them we got a III...that's what Mr. Bennett gave us so that's the only one that really counts. Who cares what stupid Mr. Goad thinks. I never liked him anyways) so they won't be upset before today. I'm really hoping they play as well this afternoon as they did this morning....I thought they sounded really nice today!

Flowers

Ok, so flowers for a wedding are really expensive! Mom wants me to get real ones, but that's gonna run AT LEAST $500!! For flowers !?! It'll be around $125 just for my boquet! That just seems silly to me. They're going to be used for 4 hours and then what? Left out of water and wilt, more than likely. Not to mention corsages and boutineers...for just about everyone too. I'd need like 10 boutineers and 15 corsages or something. That's $200 bucks right there. And then the florist lady was implying that using one flower with filler was "skimpy". At those prices....I don't think so. Really, I can get silk flowers (not the super cheap ugly kind, but nice, realistic ones) for half that price. Ok, check it out. http://www.wedideas.com/RoundFall.htm they have some really pretty ones that are what I want only with silk instead of real flowers. The Gerbera Mix boquet (substituting orangeish roses for the calas) would be perfect. and $70 for a 12" boquet...that's much more reasonable! I was thinking of having the girls cary just the gerberas (just scroll down that same page) or maybe the rose and gerbera mix (with orangeish roses again). Call me crazy but I think they look great...Ricky would probably say that I'm being cheap about the wedding again, but I think they would work fine!

Stuff on my mind

So, after having a moment yesterday where I really wanted to talk to my friends (and after seeing my crazy sister is trying to have a blog) I decided "Hey...why not". I figure at least this way I'll be able to communicate when I lose my phone. Which, by the way I have done AGAIN.

So, I went shoping this Saturday again for wedding stuff. I picked up a bunch (and by a bunch I mean all they had) of orange and teal paper to use for programs. Ricky and I probably looked like freaks standing in the middle of Hobby Lobby counting big stack of cardstock. He was so good though! He let me drag him to Hobby Lobby and Michaels with only minimal impatience.

I also got stuff to make the flowergirl's headbands. I'm not really sure what I'm doing there, but I figure I'll give it try. If they look really dumb I can always just buy them a pretty headband.

I'm starting to get a little stressed about all of the little things that need to be done. On the one hand it still seems early to get started, but on the other I'd rather not wait until August to do them. Ricky says he works better with a deadline....I think he just doesn't want to play in the flowers and girly stuff (which is fine by me).

Oh, then there's Ricky's sister, Charity. Her and Tom (her boyfriend) just got engaged...a little less than a month ago. They originally set their wedding for May of 2010. Well, we just found out yesterday that they've moved it up to Sept. 12. Two weeks before ours. I think it's bugging Ricky. Yesterday he kept saying "I told you that was going to happen. I knew they'd end up getting married before us." I don't know, it doesn't really bother me, but even if it did it's one of those things. We couldn't tell her that it bothers us without looking like big jerks. Besides I know our weddings are going to be completely different. I just don't want his family to be all burnt out by the time ours rolls around.
